My dedication to handmade jewelry: Part II

This is my lovely handmade necklace display. It was a gold syroco mirror from possibly the 1950s that I spray painted black and replaced the mirror with a piece of wood that I painted. I was tired of having my necklaces all tangled up in a box, so I put my crafty hands to use and made this. I keep my large beaded necklaces in a box because they're harder to get tangled. Most of these are handmade.

My dedication to handmade jewelry: Part I

Several years ago I dedicated myself to only purchasing handmade jewelry. Why? I have several reasons, but the main one is that I want something that isn't mass produced in a factory. My mother is a jeweler and I appreciate her skill. I want to support independent artists, not Chinese factories. It's a small token.
