MOTD: Sugarpill Heart Breaker, Acidberry, Mochi, 2am eyeshadow

Just a quick post for you! I almost always forget to take photos of my MOTD, but here's one I did remember! This is a look I did yesterday using the new Heart Breaker palette from Sugarpill Cosmetics. I used Acidberry and Mochi on my lid and 2am in the crease and browbone. I can't remember which mascara I grabbed or what eyeliner I used. Oops! I hope you enjoy it all the same.

Sugarpill Heart Breaker Palette photos, swatches, and review

The new Heart Breaker palette from Sugarpill Cosmetics was released on May 18th and as soon as it became available on their website I snatched one up! I've loved the quality of all the other Sugarpill eyeshadows and am so pleased to add this palette to my collection. Acidberry is a vibrant chartreuse green with sheen, Velocity is a royal blue, 2am is a red-based purple with sheen, Mochi is a seafoam green with sheen. Of these, 2am is the only color that isn't vegan. Individual eyeshadows can be purchased for $12 each, and the quad palette is $34, so if you like at least three of the colors, it's worth it to buy the quad. When I swatched these I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer on the lower half of the swatches for comparison. I personally don't use shadows without a primer, and as you can see they're much more vibrant with one.

Thank you Sugarpill for making such a gorgeous eyeshadow palette!

NOTD: OPI Nicki Minaj Fly with China Glaze Optical Illusion ring finger accent

Ever since I picked up the OPI Nicki Minaj collection (see my review here) I've been absolutely loving Fly, the bright blue-aqua creme color. Today I paired it with China Glaze Optical Illusion from the Chroma Glitters collection as an accent on my ring fingers.

OOTD: ModCloth Stripe Your Interest Dress

As soon as I saw this striped dress on the ModCloth website, I knew it had to be mine. The combination of crazy horizontal and diagonal stripes caught my attention immediately. This is the Stripe Your Interest dress. The dueling stripes appear to make your waist smaller. It has capped sleeves, a low neckline, and on a short girl like me, it's fingertip length. The weight is a bit heavier than regular t-shirt fabric and it hugs perfectly.

China Glaze Crackle Glitters, photos, swatches, and review.

China Glaze Crackle Glitters Collection
This is the new Crackle Glitters Collection from China Glaze that was released at the beginning of May. You can see the promo info for this collection here. I picked up all four colors from this collection last week and just swatched them all. I swatched each polish over both a black base and a white base to give you an idea of how it transforms each color. The swatches over white are more pastel and give them a sort of Easter-egg candy feel. Over black, the swatches are much more bold and I personally think that contrast makes them more interesting. I applied two layers of each base, one layer of crackle and a top coat for each swatch.

Jade-d is a yellow-leaning green that, in my swatches at least, appeared to have the least glitter out of the collection. Maybe a thicker coat next time? Gleam Me Up is a bright sky blue that shows up extremely well against the white. Glam-More is a bright bold fuchsia that applied with a ton of glitter and again, that could have just been my swatch. Luminous Lavender is a light pastel purple. Each applied smoothly and, as far as crackle/shatter polishes go, these have been my very favorite so far!

Fashion Friday: Light Summer Dresses from ModCloth

When it comes to dressing for the heat of summer I'm usually at a loss because my wardrobe consists of almost entirely black dresses. The list of colors, prints, and cuts I dislike is fairly long, so I do have a difficult time deciding on something I like. Plus, I refuse to wear pants, so my wardrobe is mostly dresses and skirts. When it's nearly one hundred degrees outside and the humidity makes you feel like you're melting, the color and fabric of your clothing can make such an amazing difference. So, I've picked out six inexpensive (under $100) lightly colored dresses from ModCloth to share with you as options for summertime. As you can tell, I'm a sucker for fitted waists and flared skirts!

Mint Milkshake Dress ($52.99) Fitted waists and A-line skirts give the impression of curves by adding fullness at your thighs and hips, perfect for thin ladies who want to look more voluptuous than they are. This sleeveless dress has a floral eyelet detail all the way across the bottom, a rose embellishment at the waist, plus a large bow in the back. It's flirty, feminine, and lightweight. This dress is 100% cotton with a tulle and a polyester lining and a hidden back zipper.

Caught Your Eyelet Dress ($97.99) This is another eyelet dress with a fitted waistline and flared skirt by BB Dakota. It's a  fully lined crisp white halter top with a plunging neckline and scalloped trim detail. The bottom of the dress has a floral eyelet detail. It is 100% cotton with a hidden back zipper and hook and eye closure.

Too Much Fun Dress In Stripes ($79.99) This seemingly grey dress is actually a navy and white striped dress by British designer Emily and Fin. It has a high neckline with gathering at the shoulders and waist. This dress is 100% cotton, fully lined, a hidden back zipper, buttons, and something extra special: pockets!

Billowing Beauty Dress ($62.99) This dress just screams hot summer days to me. It's an airy, loose, sheer white with a removable slip. The detail at the top gives it the look of a skeleton rib cage -- or am I projecting here? So really, this is two thin dresses sold as one. The exterior is 100% polyester, and the slip is a rayon/spandex blend. To create more of a form, this could be paired with a belt.

Stripe Your Interest Dress ($39.99) Okay, so I still gravitate toward black, but this one's black and white! I love the dizzy, busy combination of crazy diagonal stripes here. It has capped sleeves plus a scoop neck, and it's actually charcoal grey, not black. It's a pull-over polyester/spandex blend.

Afternoon Stroll Dress ($57.99) This is a white and pale grey striped empire-waisted dress with the cutest buttons and ruffle detail. The back has a large shirring, or gathered area, to provide stretch, and the lining is tulle netting for added fullness! The exterior is 100% cotton and fully lined.

What do you think about the new Fashion Friday feature? Do you like having a break from all the makeup and nail polish posts? Let me know what you think in the comments section. Thanks for reading!

Sugarpill Heart Breaker Palette promo info

Sugarpill Cosmetics just announced their new Heart Breaker palette on their Facebook page about an hour ago. It's going to be available for purchase on May 18th, 2012. This is the latest palette in their Heart series, which includes both the Burning Heart Palette and the Sweetheart palette. Heart Breaker looks like it contains a chartreuse green, a sea-foam green, a deep blue and a red-based plum purple. All the shadows from the collection have a matte finish. The quality of the previous palettes was top notch, so I'm really looking forward to this new one. I personally gravitate towards green and purples, so this is definitely on my wish list!
