BBC's Sherlock Holmes, Irene Adler's Makeup

BBC's Sherlock Holmes, Irene Adler's Makeup

Okay, I have a confession to make. I am completely obsessed with the BBC's Sherlock Holmes. Okay, it's really just Benedict Cumberbatch I'm obsessed with. (Those cheekbones! Those curls!) The episode I want to talk to you about is The Woman/Irene Adler episode called "A Scandal in Belgravia," which originally aired in January of 2012. I recently re-watched both seasons in anticipation of the upcoming third season and found myself wondering what beauty products were sitting on her vanity but couldn't quite make them out. Well, here is a list of cosmetics used in this episode!

Lipstick - Illamasqua's Encounter
Actually a classic brick (not blood) red with a matte finish, Irene Adler dons Illamasqua's Encounter lipstick before going into battle with Sherlock Holmes for the first time in A Scandal in Belgravia.
Mascara - Borghese Superiore State Of The Art Mascara
Featured on Irene's dressing table is a stunning looking Borghese Superiore State Of The Art Mascara case, containing black mascara. However, we are reliably informed that the waterproof version - in a slightly different case that lacks the gold trim - was applied to Lara Pulver for the purposes of filming.
Nail Polish - Jessica  '222 Winter Berries'
Irene's glamourous red nail polish is by the cosmetics company Jessica, in the '222 Winter Berries' shade. It is no longer available directly from the manufacturer, so future availability seems limited.
Eyeliner - MAC Liquidlast Liner in Aqualine (discontinued)
The stunning aquamarine eyeliner Irene Adler wears in 'A Scandal in Bohemia' is by cosmetics brand giant MAC. A rich aquamarine colour liquid eyeliner that combines long-lasting wear with a non-smudge, non-flake precisionline. Goes on effortlessly. Applies with its own brush and in 2.5 ml / 0.084 oz size.
Perfume - Casmir Eau de Parfum
As seen on Irene's dressing table amongst her many cosmetics, Casmir (100ml Eau de Parfum Spray) was created by Chopard and launched in 1991. Described as a "sharp, woody, oriental" fragrance, this feminine scent possesses a blend of sandalwood and patchouli accompanied by fruity notes. Opening with top notes of peach, apricot, mango, coconut, bergamot, hesperides, blackcurrant and raspberry, flowing into a heart of Jasmine, lily of the valley, geranium, mandarin, carnation and cinnamon, atop a smooth base of vanilla, amber, sandalwood, patchouli, castoreum, musk, benzoin, Tonka bean and opoponax. Casmir is said to 'capture the charm and mystery of the Orient' in a beautiful, exotic perfume.
